Pharmacological Category: Antacid
Indications: Symptomatic relief of acute and chronic gastritis, duodenal ulcer, esophagitis and dyspepsia. Dosage and
Administration: Adults: 5 mL– 10 mL four (4) times a day. May be taken with or without food.
Precautions:
1. Do not administer the product to patients hypersensitive to any component in the formulation.
2. Should be administered cautiously to the following patients:
- Patients undergoing medication.
- Patients with history of hypermagnesemia in which there is an abnormally elevated level of magnesium in the blood.
3. The use of magnesium containing antacids should be carefully observe in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment due to increased risk of hypermagnesemia.
Drug Interactions:
- The rate and/or extent of renal absorption of many drugs may be increased or decreased when they are used concurrently with Aluminum containing antacids. Therefore, as a general rule, medication should not be taken within one to two hours of an antacid, if possible.
- Drug which increases renal absorption: Acetylsalicylic acid, Naproxen, Metoprolol, Levodopa.
- Drug which decreases renal absorption: Tetracycline, Ciprofloxacin, Ofloxacin, Chenodeoxycholic Acid, Sodium Fluoride, Norfloxacin, Levothyroxin, Coumarins Derivatives.
- Drug which change renal absorption: Digoxin, Captopril, Cimetidine, Ranitidine, Famotidine, Theophylline, Propanolol, Atenolol, Ferrous Sulfate, Chlorpromazine, Isoniazid.
Pregnancy and Lactation:
- The product should not be used during the first trimester of pregnancy.
- It has not yet been established that this drug is excreted in human milk.
1. Adverse Effects:
- Digestive system: Diarrhea, constipation, meteorism.
- Deficiency of phosphate.
- Hypermagnesemia and renal failure by high dosage.
- Can produce dryness of the mouth and loss of taste; rarely skin eruption, paralysis and hypersensitivity may occur. When these symptoms are continuing or increasing, take appropriate treatment such as reducing dose or discontinuing the therapy, and consult a physician.
- Rarely headache, drowsiness, dizziness and fatigue may occur.
Storage: Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Protect from light.
